A great read with characters I cared about.

Adam Sherman is a computer expert and a womanizer who is dedicated to “Bedding but not Wedding.” When he becomes aware of Davie Prescott, a twenty year old student who works part time at the same place that he does, he pursues her.

Davie feels an equal attraction, but she is not an average 20 year old. When Adam makes his move to take her to bed, she confesses that she is still a virgin. His reaction is the exact opposite to what she might have expected; he is not thrilled that he is her first. In fact he pulls away in shock and says he will not make love to her. Then he gets out of the bedroom as fast as he can.

Davie is humiliated and angered, assuming that her lack of experience had been a turn off for him.

Adam is still attracted to her and tries to smooth the troubled situation between them, but she is not willing to open up to him again. Adam has a dark secret that he has been hiding, but eventually his past catches up to him in his work place. He shares his secret with Davie and is shocked that she doesn’t turn away in disgust; instead she is supportive.

Then he learns that she has been hiding a secret too. They both have deep emotional wounds, and together they help each other come to terms with the problems that have created turmoil in their lives. Their commitment to each other gives them the courage to face their problems and make a new life.

I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced, full of twists and turns, mystery, danger and tragedy. I cared for these two characters. I was reminded again that sometimes people have no control over the circumstances in their lives and without love and support from family and community, they flounder in shame and fear.

Don’t miss a great read. I’ll be looking for more books from Chelle Cordero.

Meeting Raquel Gliss, the voice behind Courage of the Heart

Hello, today voice actress Raquel Gliss is joining me in the Potpourri Parlor.

 Raquel recently did a superb job of recording my novel Courage of the Heart. Thanks Raquel, I gave a listen to the audio book and wow, that opening scene sure sounds steamy!

What three words do you think describe you as a human being?

Smart, creative, positive

How would others describe you?

Smart, creative, positive, sexy

Please tell us what you are most passionate about.

I am passionate about dancing, acting, yoga and other creative endeavors.  I am passionate about spending time on my boat with my boyfriend.  I am passionate about raising my teenage daughter.

Do you have any pets? If so, introduce us to them.

I have 3 cats, Benson, Sierra and Billy.  Benson is 21 years old!  Billy is an orange tabby who acts like a puppy and follows me everywhere.  Sierra is a very neurotic female cat who likes to steal everyone’s food.

Do you prefer fiction or non-fiction?

I love both!  I particularly like historical novels and “self help” type books.

How many books are in your office or home?

Most of my books are on Kindle now!

When you were a child, what was your most treasured type of story or book?

I used to love fiction about the Pioneers.  Little House on the Prairie was probably my favorite series.

Has someone been instrumental in inspiring you as a voice actor?

My father, who passed away 5 years ago, was definitely instrumental.  He worked in advertising.  He encouraged me to take acting lessons and signed me up with a casting agency to do commercials when I was 8.  I landed the part of the voice of “Lucy” in the Peanuts cartoons when I was 9.

Can you describe your recording studio?

I have a home studio in my closet with padded walls!

What reaction do you get from strangers when you tell them you are a voice actor?

They love to hear more, especially when I tell them about acting as “Lucy” and then the revival of my career when I became an adult.

Tell us about your background. Are you a full-time voice actress?

I am a mom and a real estate agent.  I also do some acting work with a hospital in their “Standardized Patient Program” where I play a sick person to assist medical students in their training.

What do you do to unwind and relax?

Yoga and dance.

Do you use a pseudonym? Why did you choose it?

Yes, Raquel Gliss is a pseudonym.  I decided to take it on to take on more romantic and erotic projects, so I could have more freedom and not mix with my work as a real estate broker and mom.

What do you like most about narrating audio books?

I love reading aloud and have read to my daughter since she was little.  I actually read the entire “Harry Potter” series to her aloud.  I enjoy the acting challenge of playing different characters including men.

 Courage of the Heart by Chelle Cordero begins as an office romance that quickly turns into an unlikely love affair. In one fell swoop, life changes when the past confronts the present with mystery, intrigue and life threatening situations. More than once I found my heart racing as I turned the page. Kudos to Ms. Cordero for penning an entertaining read.
