Book Promo ~ A Rainbow Bridge by Erin O’Quinn

A cop and a scholar find an unlikely bridge into another century—the age of Robert Burns—where they meet the man who was the inspiration for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, waiting for the gallows in 1788. Follow two lovers across a Rainbow Bridge spanning more than two centuries as they struggle to reconcile the convenient lies of history and the truth about their own conflicted relationship.

A Rainbow Bridge

Step back for a moment to September 30, 1788. At eight o’clock on the following morning, a man is to be hanged for the crime of burglary. The culprit, well known in the annals of Edinburgh history, is Deacon William Brodie. He’s so well known that there are at least two popular tourist spots on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile dedicated to his memory. He was also the model for Stevenson’s immortal “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.”

History says he died on the gallows on October 1, 1788. But what is the real story? And how do two contemporary men fit into this re-telling of history?

The reticent undercover detective Thomas Fitzgerald is already deeply in love…with a man who has just met him in an “alternate reality.” Tight-lipped and uptight as he is, a confession is out of the question. And Burns, not quite the same man he fell in love with, is afraid that his caped hero may misunderstand his own “insta-love.”
How can two stubborn men find that elusive bridge that spans then and now and tomorrow? This is where quantum entanglement, a kind of time-travel, enters the story—the bridge that connects past, present and future.

Follow two 21st-century lovers across a Rainbow Bridge spanning more than two centuries as they struggle to reconcile not just the convenient lies of history, but also the truth about their own conflicted relationship.

This full-length novel is a stand-alone. But it’s also the culmination of six previous novellas, the Burns! Mysteries.

5 stars What a read!

Usually I read non-fiction but the title of Karma Visited intrigued me so I read it and could not put this book down. The author has written a fascinating story of good and evil in a plausible way. My heart beat faster reading many scenes and felt relief when things brightened for a few pages. What a read! I highly recommend this wonderful story for anyone looking for something out of the ordinary and so fulfilling.    ~~  Don Thorkelson

In Time for Halloween! Niagara’s Most Haunted

The Niagara’s Most Haunted Experience:
Two of North America’s Most Haunted Places!

In a thoughtful, scary-good new book, renowned author, psychologist and TV show host Peter Andrew Sacco shares some excellent ghost stories, visiting two of the more profound, haunted places in Canada, two locations bordering on the USA. In The Niagara’s Most Haunted Experience, he asks, are there really such things as ghosts?

“After working on this TV series for the last 6 years, I thought I had seen and heard it all, but I would definitely have to say the last year has really opened my mind up more to the true existence of ghosts,” he says. “I have brought in one of Canada’s leading paranormal investigators featured on many ‘hauntings’ shows in both Canada and the USA and she literally made the hair on my neck and arms stand on end!” People love shows and books on ghost and hauntings because they not only like to feel scared, but also secure in knowing that there is an afterlife. “When you get to visit two of the most haunted locations in all of North America which I did the last twelve months, and see and hear things, it kind of makes you sigh in amazement, and chuckle with a sense of nervousness.” Some people need to see to believe and The Niagara’s Most Haunted Experience shares moments that could make a believer out of readers.

The Niagara’s Most Haunted Experience includes a one month shoot throughout the town of Ridgeway, Canada, one of North America’s oldest towns, and Willowbank, one of Canada’s most esteem historical mansions, sitting directly across from Lewiston, New York. The book is based on these two film shoots, and features actress/comedian Rita Carrey (sister of actor Jim Carrey), actor/producer Mitch Markowitz and esteemed Canadian newspaper reporter Richard Hutton, all invited to participate first hand with real paranormal investigators. “I think at least two out of the three celebrities were skeptics before the filming,” Sacco says. “During and after the shoots, I saw lots of jaws dropping and lips pursing together from all three, along with the entire crew, and I can’t leave out myself!” His new book examines some of the most haunted places in all North America.

Peter Sacco is also the acclaimed author of Niagara’s Most Haunted: Legends and Myths and Paranormal Niagara: Cases of the Mysterious and Macabre. Both books are collections of historically-based ghost stories and haunted places throughout the Niagara region, in both Canada and the United States. The books are based on his hit TV series Niagara’s Most Haunted which is now in its 6th year of production and seen at film festivals, comic cons and fan expos.

In addition to being an author of many books and more than 800 magazine articles, Sacco is an award-winning lecturer at universities in both the USA and Canada, specializing in relationships, criminal psychology, addictions, and mental health. He is also a frequent resident expert on several television programs and appears regularly as a guest expert on many news talk radio shows in the USA (FOX, ABC, CBS, Iheart, Coast To Coast, etc.). He is also an award-winning executive film producer and host of documentaries on relationships, psychological issues and child issues.

An Amazon Review

5 stars Great Story Told Exceptionally Well  reviewed by Douglas C. Meeks

There are a lot of long reviews here so I will try to be brief (if possible), this was an amazing story. I was not sure if it would catch my attention but that was taken care of after a chapter or two.

The author solidifies the romance with the reader quickly for those (like me) who had not read the first book. I have to make mention of the exceptional way she was able to thread necessary parts of the previous book into this one seamlessly to keep me from being lost or confused over things that happened previously.

Arik and Rebeka are the two consummate lost lovers, I have to mention that this whole plot is done well although for awhile you think the cause of it all was Rebeka being TSTL. The story kept my attention, the lovers go through the requisite trials and tribulations while other plots unfold around them.

It was great storytelling and I enjoyed it right through the end. Well done and probably deserves a longer review but I stayed up late last night finishing this book (could not put it down) and so you get the abbreviated version of my thoughts on this extremely entertaining novel.

4.5 Stars rounded to 5 mostly for entertainment value.

Book Review: Star Cruise: Marooned: (A Sectors SF Romance) by Veronica Scott

Star Cruise: Marooned: (A Sectors SF Romance) by Veronica Scott

Meg Antille works long hours on the charter cruise ship Far Horizon so she can send credits home to her family. Working hard to earn a promotion to a better post (and better pay), Meg has no time for romance.

Former Special Forces soldier Red Thomsill only took the berth on the Far Horizon in hopes of getting to know Meg better, but so far she’s kept him at a polite distance. A scheduled stopover on the idyllic beach of a nature preserve planet may be his last chance to impress the girl.

But when one of the passengers is attacked by a wild animal it becomes clear that conditions on the lushly forested Dantaralon aren’t as advertised – the ranger station is deserted, the defensive perimeter is down…and then the Far Horizon’s shuttle abruptly leaves without any of them.

Marooned on the dangerous outback world, romance is the least of their concerns, and yet Meg and Red cannot help being drawn to each other once they see how well they work together. But can they survive long enough to see their romance through? Or will the wild alien planet defeat them, ending their romance and their lives before anything can really begin?

20890-5-stars-rating-bmp     Escapism at its best   reviewed by J. Rhoades
Fast paced and tightly written, Star Cruise: Marooned is a not-to-be-missed sci-fi action adventure. Red and Meg are believable characters and while their relationship develops into a romantic one, it was secondary to the main plot and was therefore more believable. This was a fast read for me, not because of its length, but because of its timing. The action flowed without feeling contrived, both of the main characters were strong, capable, and engaging. Scott’s descriptions were broad enough to give the reader an imaginative feel for the setting without an overload of unnecessary details. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more of Ms. Scott’s work.

About the Author

Veronica ScottBest Selling Science Fiction & Paranormal Romance author and “SciFi Encounters” columnist for the USA Today Happily Ever After blog, Veronica Scott grew up in a house with a library as its heart. Dad loved science fiction, Mom loved ancient history and Veronica thought there needed to be more romance in everything. When she ran out of books to read, she started writing her own stories.

Veronica’s life has taken many twists and turns, but she always makes time to keep reading and writing. Everything is good source material for the next novel or the one after that anyway, right? She’s been through earthquakes, tornadoes and near death experiences, although nothing is as stressful as meeting a book deadline. Always more stories to tell, new adventures to experience–Veronica’s personal motto is, “Never boring.”
