A Varied Supervisor/Leadership
Perspective and Memoirs
from a Man Who Wore Many Hats

by David J. Kryger

“I do not believe that you become a successful leader by JUST reading a few books on supervision, by JUST attending a supervision school, by JUST attending current training courses in supervision, by JUST working in the field, or by JUST listening to those above you, around you and under you. NO, you become a successful leader by doing no less than a combination of ALL these things. If you are a supervisor, read this book and self-reflect, if you are going to be a supervisor, read this book and start to think like a leader now.”

from Tom M

Many times, books marketed to those looking to build leadership skills can be dry (aka boring). This book is not. It is an enjoyable read with the author providing dozens of true-life stories that are both entertaining and provide firm examples of the subject matter. Just for the stories, the book is great. Adding the lessons of leadership this book will speak to people in many different occupations – not just law enforcement or the fire service. Without giving too much away the common thread throughout the book is using communication as a leadership tool. Whether the communication is through actions or words the author gives examples over and over. Kryger’s experiences are strong lessons on the importance of communication as a leader. I highly recommend it.
