Despite having placed the book down due to being busy, as soon as I picked it up again, I had no problem being wrapped back up into the story. The characters are able to be connected with and each have their own quirks that give them life. The tone of the book is so casual that it feels as if you’re right in the thicket of the story’s environment. Additionally, the tone complements the characters very well as it emphasizes the thoughts of each of them that makes their situations feel real. Anytime a book can make me use my imagination to paint the picture, it’s doing a darn good job….  Kelsey

Who doesn’t like a gritty love story. The romance plays out to be true to imagination with a real flare for an intimate setting and flawless character portrayals, the character ‘Trace’, being my favorite. The authors writing style sucks you in to the pages and I found I couldn’t put it down.

I was actually late for an appointment yesterday as I was so engrossed reading this book on the train that I missed my stop lol. Für Matt und Julie hatte ihr Dienst begonnen wie viele andere. Sie wurden zu einem kleineren
Verkehrsunfall gerufen, zu jemandem mit Schmerzen in der Brust und zu einem
Krebspatienten, der zur Behandlung ins Krankenhaus musste. Viele der
Gemeinschaften im Norden des Staates New York hatten Notfalldienste unter
Vertrag, um dem bestehenden Rettungsdienst unter die Arme zu greifen und auf
medizinische Notfälle zu reagieren. Ob bezahlt oder nicht, der qualifizierte
Dienst schickte immer Rettungsassistenten, die mit den meisten Notfällen
umgehen konnten. Wenn die Notfallsanitäter ausgesandt wurden, machten ein
weiteres Paar Hände und Infusionen oft den kritischen Unterschied.

Dieser Notruf kam über Funk für ein Brandopfer, also war keiner der Polizisten,
Feuerwehrmänner, ehrenamtlichen Rettungshelfer oder Sanitäter darauf
vorbereitet, was sie in diesem abgelegenen Werkzeugschuppen vorfanden. Von
außen wirkte das ergraute Holz friedlich genug, und das eine kleine Fenster war
schmutzverkrustet. Julie dachte nicht, dass sie unter normalen Umständen den
Schuppen eines zweiten Blickes gewürdigt hätte. Aber das hier war alles andere
als normal. Niemand hatte mit der Horrorszene im Inneren gerechnet.

Author Paul Zunckel

Paul Zunckel was born in 1957 in Zimbabwe, then known as Rhodesia. His family moved to South Africa in 1966, where he completed his schooling at Kingsway Senior High School in Amanzimtoti.

He did his two years National service in the South African Defence Force as an Ops Medic, wanting to follow his heart and study medicine, but life got in the way.

Paul was employed in Air Traffic Control for twenty years, and has been involved in Management positions for over twenty-five years. He has a Human Resource Management Diploma, and is an accredited Facilitator.

He started to write full time in August 2014, about something that is close to his heart… Africa. The mysteries, the superstitions, and all the beauty and treachery of the land. He holds his wife responsible for the road he is now traveling, as she was the driving force behind him in his Debut novel, Blood Moon over Africa. Since then, the stories line up to be told.

Paul loves to write as it takes him into another world, and he enjoys the reaction that he receives from readers.

Apart from writing novels, he also plays the guitar and writes his own material, although he is unable to read music. Music forms a big part of his life, and he can lay claim to having cut one CD, although he does say, “I’m too old to be an idol.”

He has two children from a previous marriage, and has been married to Lucie, the love of his life, for the last fourteen years. Paul and his family live in the Eastern Cape, South Africa along with man’s best friend, a cross Alsatian/Lab  who answers to the name “Pooch”  and is at his feet every time he sits down to write and will not move until “his human” is finished and types The End.
